LIBERALISM SPREADS: STUDENT SENATE SITS DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

In an outward attempt at taking a stand, or shall I say a knee, a college group has taken a political stance during the Pledge of Allegiance at a Senate Session on Clemson College Campus.

More than a half dozen members remained seated.

“These divisive comments are the antithesis of what America is all about. We are not a nation that ostracizes their own simply due to a difference of opinion,” CUSG senator Willie Webb wrote in an online chat room.

Campus Reform has reported the protest was an attempt to send a message to President Trump. The protest was called after President Trump's tweet, allegedly calling for the firing of NFL football players who kneel for the National Anthem.

At this point, many level headed Americans are absolutely fed up with the disrespect for the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. It wouldn't surprise me if there were to be a great deal of push back against such Anti-American stances across the nation,

Historically, the college campus has been a place of learning, expression of peaceful protest, and a place for proper discourse.

As of recent we have however seen an uptick of violent rhetoric followed by the burning of flags and damaging of property. Hopefully these students get a sobering dose of what the Pledge of Allegiance is and what it actually means to be an American.

Mind you, should any of the students in attendance be an International Student and a citizen of another nation, it would not be inappropriate for them to sit out the pledge.


In the case of our Congressional Senate or House of Representatives, all parties are Citizens of the United States of America, have taken an Oath and should be respectful of not only the flag, but also be dutiful in reciting the Pledge.

We can't stress enough the difference between exercising rights and utter and blatant disrespect for process and formality. Hopefully the parents of the shown young adults provide their offspring with proper information and guide them in the right direction.
